Deutsche Post will not face court proceedings over ‘Einkauf aktuell’

The German antitrust authority has ruled that Deutsche Post, the country’s postal service operator, has not violated current competition law in its delivery of supplements. It has decided against bringing court proceedings following complaints against the postal service operator by press publishing associations BDZV and BVDA.

While Deutsche Post insists that there is no cross-subsidising within the group, the two publishing associations had claimed that the advertising and TV publication ‘Einkauf aktuell’ distributed by Deutsche Post in certain areas of the country did not cover costs, and required financing out of income from the group’s monopoly on letter delivery.
