DHL extends reach in Asia
DHL is continuing its expansion in Asia with the launch of a six-times-weekly Shanghai freighter from its Hong Kong regional hub.
The 35-tonne payload A300B4 freighter begins operating on 15 June through the integrator’s partnership with local carrier Dragonair.
DHL currently serves the route via belly capacity offered by Dragonair passenger services.
“A flexible agreement has been negotiated with Dragonair, so that we can increase capacity in line with demand, ” a senior DHLofficial said.
Dragonair will wet-lease the freighter from Express.Net Airlines.
Late last month, DHLalso launched a freighter service between Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
DHLhas teamed up with Thai carrier API which has wetleased a B737 freighter from Transmile, which operates four weekly rotations on the route.
The service connects with DHL’s B727F service between Bangkok and Hong Kong, operated by Air Hong Kong.
