XPS, Emirates Post tie up for parcel delivery

This is the first-ever such venture for inbound parcel service in India.

XPS will be the delivery partner for the Emirates Post’s `Bharat Parcel Guaranteed’ service.

The Xpress Cargo Division (XPS) of the Travel Corporation of India has tied up with the Emirates Post of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for delivery of its parcels in India.

This value-added service for the first time offers to fully refund parcel charges to the consignor if the parcel is not delivered within two weeks after booking.

“This service has been a huge success since its launch in January. XPS has delivered over 15,000 packages since the commencement of this service. We are targeting a turnover of over Rs two crore from this service and a growth rate of over 60 per cent in the next two years,” K Prabhakar, chief executive officer, XPS, said on Monday.

XPS has made an investments of over Rs 50 lakh in infrastructure, acquiring manpower resources for this operation and courier licence in Mumbai.

Investments are also made in landing port and delivery vehicles at all the hubs and high volume delivery branches.

The company expects to capture a market share of over 20 per cent by 2005 for the inbound international parcel service.

“XPS is the leading and dominant express cargo division in India, backed by a well established network of 425 offices serving 2,000 destinations across India. It has the required expertise and the quality manpower which was the driving force behind selecting XPS for this venture,” said Abdulla Al Daboos, director general, Emirate Post.

The Bharat Parcel Guranteed service offers value for money to users for Rs 576 and the consumer can send up to 35 kgs per parcel with value of goods not exceeding Rs 10,000, officials said.

From the first step of acceptance of the parcel to the doorstep delivery, Emirates Post and XPS will ensure that the parcel reaches the consignee anywhere in India within the stipulated time, they said.

“With the launch of Bharat Parcel Guaranteed, we are adding value to our parcel service in India. The service offers consumers, primarily expatriate Indians in Emirates, an added incentive to send parcels to their near and dear ones in a span of only two weeks,” Daboos said.

XPS is a fast-growing express delivery company and division of the Rs 750 crore Transport Corporation of India Limited, the largest integrated logistics solution provider in Asia, the officials said.

In addition to the Express Surface Delivery, XPS also offers air cargo, courier, international freight forwarding and customs clearance and operation of modern refrigerated vehicles and cold chains, the company officials said.
