Spanish Correos picks Indra for IRIS support
IT services provider Indra has landed a USD1.23 million one-year contract from Correos, the Spanish post office, to maintain and support the post’s IRIS system.
Correos uses IRIS to manage the information network system of various branch offices. It handles both front-office customer care and back-office services such as accounting and statistics. Correos considers IRIS critical to its commercial and customer services as well as to its invoicing and business reporting.
Besides resolving any incidents with IRIS, Indra will also be responsible for evolving maintenance, developing new features and implementing any modifications Correos requires because it changes strategy or needs new products and services.
Indra executives said the remedial and evolving maintenance includes connecting and integrating the office management system with the post’s other corporate applications, including the rating and invoicing system.
Correos has been making significant investments in its IT infrastructure. The post’s Systems Plan envisions investments of USD179 million over the three years between now and 2006. Besides covering postal operations broadly, the plan includes completing the implementation and integration of Correos’ management systems, and lays the foundation for developing ebusiness initiatives. To achieve these objectives, the post has been computerising both its management and operating processes.
