Pall-Ex Wins ASDA Nominated Carrier Status
Major supermarket chain ASDA has awarded leading pallet distribution network Pall-Ex a nominated carrier contract for smaller consignments of up to 3 pallets. Pall-Ex will collect products from a designated group of Asda suppliers across the UK and will consolidate consignments at its state-of-the-art Leicestershire hub. Asda’s own fleet will then collect the consolidated trailer loads from Pall-Ex’s central hub, for onward shipment to Asda distribution centres.
The excellent product handling environment of Pall-Ex’s new hub meant that the pallet freight specialist was able to satisfy the high expectations required for the transportation of a wide range of products, especially foods.
Simon Pearson, Asda’s primary distribution manager, said: “In our search for a partner in this sector, the quality of the facility was as important as cost, and the Pall-Ex hub in Leicestershire is clearly aligned with the standards of hygiene we require for the handling of ambient food lines.”
Hilary Devey, managing director of Pall-Ex, said: “We are looking forward to the challenges of working with a fast moving retail organisation. Our whole operation has been geared towards delivering a quality service in FMCG and Asda has recognised our sector-leading standards.”
