DHL launches direct service to Vietnam
DHL began flying its first transport aircraft into Vietnam last Friday tripling its cargo capacity in the country and increasing its daily service hours to customers.
A Boeing 737 will fly four times a week, linking Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City, directly with DHL’s regional hub in Bangkok. This will increase the company’s carrying capacity into and out of Vietnam from the earlier four tonnes to 13.5 tonnes and push back its closing time from 1pm to 5pm.
“We have invested heavily to bring this aircraft into Vietnamese skies and are extremely confident of success because of Vietnam’s booming economy,” said Stephen Fenwick, South Asian and Indochina’s Area Director for DHL Express.
“The flight is intended to meet the ever-increasing demand from Vietnamese manufacturers, traders and exporters.”
DHL has grown rapidly in Vietnam over the past few years – in double digits every year for the past three years, and is on track for a fourth.
DHL is 100 per cent owned by Deutsche Post World Net. With revenues of nearly 22 billion euros (USD27 billion) in 2003, the company is a global leader in international express and logistics services.
