Head of Sales & Marketing for DHL Caribbean, Central and South America appointed

Gearing up for a strong focus on sales and marketing in 2005 and promising to maintain its leadership position in the Latin America region, DHL — the world’s leading express, freight and logistics company — has appointed Mariano Dall’Orso, a veteran in strategic planning and development as the head of the Caribbean, Central and South America (CCSA) Sales and Marketing group.

Dall’Orso will be responsible for developing DHL’s sales and marketing strategy for the CCSA region and overseeing targeted initiatives that will help the organization meet its customers’ demands and needs. Among the areas which Dall’Orso will manage are advertising, product development, customer service, ecommerce and pricing.

“To be number one in the industry, you must always keep your customers first and have an award-winning team ensuring this remains the business’ number one priority,” said Rafael Couttolenc, senior vice president, DHL Express Latin America. “As the head of the Latin America sales and marketing divisions of several multinational companies, Mariano has been successful at accomplishing this. And since joining DHL, he has proven to be a valuable player of our Latin America team, making significant contributions to the growth of our business in this region. I have the utmost confidence that Mariano’s strategic thinking and business initiatives will add value for our customers and our business.”

Keeping with their commitment to innovation and customer solutions, DHL will be continuing its proactive approach of developing and implementing supply chain and logistics solutions for its customers well into 2005. Customers can expect to see new value-added services, supply chain solutions and e-commerce tools as part of DHL’s portfolio.

“As the number one express transportation and logistics provider in Latin America, it is our duty to ensure that we keep our customers’ needs at the forefront of our business decisions and live up to our leadership position in the region. That is why it is my pledge to our customers that every decision taken and every program implemented has their best interest in mind and meets their every demand,” said Dall’Orso.

Dall’Orso joined DHL Express Latin America in January 2003 as vice president of business planning. Throughout the last year and a half, he has been instrumental in developing and implementing strategies, objectives and plans that have maximized DHL’s opportunities for future development and business growth in the region.

Prior to joining DHL, Dall’Orso held various high level marketing positions with international companies. He was vice president of marketing and sales for Telefonica B2B-Data, where he was responsible for the company’s overall sales and profitability. Prior to Telefonica, Dall’Orso was Lucent Technologies’ marketing director for Latin America and the Caribbean, responsible for the development and deployment of an integrated marketing model for the company in the region.

With extensive experience and training in business planning, Dall’Orso has also held market development and business analyst positions with global companies, including J. Sainsbury, WPP Media Group and Exxon SAPA. In addition, he has been a visiting lecturer and teaching assistant at Lucent’s Commercial Academy and the University of Buenos Aires’ School of Business.

Dall’Orso holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the London Business School and from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School, as well a Master’s in Psychology from the University of Buenos Aires. He has also completed the Executive Education Program at the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia.
