Italy, Cagliari Post Officers strike Aug 27 – Sept 25

Employees of post offices in the southern Italian province of Cagliari will go on strike from August 27 to September 25, 2004.

The staff at the post offices will do no overtime or additional duties and will be particularly strict to close the offices on the spot at the end of the officially announced working hours. Cagliari post officers are protesting against the insufficient post office staff, the low overtime payments and the high number of accumulated holidays, 60 days on average for each employee.

The post officers who will go on strike are members of Italian sector trade unions Slc Cgil, Slp Cisl, Uil Post, Sailp Failp and Rsu.
