DHL recognised as a Top 100 Agile company
DHL Rewarded for Information Technology Capabilities and Agility in Today’s Marketplace
IDG’s CIO magazine has announced DHL, the world’s leading express delivery and logistics company, as a recipient of the 2004 CIO 100 award. The annual award program recognises organisations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. This year’s awards theme is the “Agile 100,” which recognises those executives and organisations that respond quickly to changing business environments. Winners demonstrated measurable results in how they used IT to enable and support agility in their organisations.
“We view information technology as a competitive weapon,” said Steve Bandrowczak, Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President, Information Systems, DHL Americas. “DHL has always been the innovation leader in our market, and we are committed to continually utilizing the latest in information technology to deliver a fundamentally better service and value to our customers than anyone else. In the past year, we have consolidated all IT functions across the Americas into one location, DHL’s Americas Information Services Center in Scottsdale, AZ – saving millions while delivering IT services more effectively. This state-of-the-art global data center enables us to serve DHL’s business in the Americas and manage global shared services around the world.”
Bandrowczak continued, “We plan to further enhance our IT systems to meet the future needs of our customers as part of our $1.2 billion investment to increase capacity and further strengthen DHL’s ground and hub operations in the United States, bringing increased competition and high quality choices to the U.S. shipping and logistics market.”
In June, DHL launched a nationwide brand awareness and marketing campaign to raise its profile in the U.S. by emphasizing the company’s unmatched global network, enhanced domestic strength and comprehensive platform of products and services. The integrated marketing campaign coupled with its IT investment will allow DHL to offer customers across the country the most comprehensive range of shipping and logistics services from a single, one-stop source.
“With the economy rebounding, companies will seek out and capitalize on new opportunities as they emerge,” says Abbie Lundberg, Editor-in-Chief, CIO. “Those best positioned to succeed are the agile enterprises, able to move and change quickly; to create advantage in a world in flux. This year’s CIO 100 winners have all the hallmarks: agile operations, technology, staffing and governance models. We celebrate their achievements and expect to see great things from them in the years ahead.”
The 2004 CIO 100 Awards will be presented at The Broadmoor Hotel and Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on August 24 during the sixth annual CIO 100 Symposium® and Awards Ceremony.
