DHL introduces drug delivery service to Nigeria
Transportation of medical samples like blood, semen, urine and other specimens from Nigeria to destinantions across the world recently received a boost courtesy of a new service delivery initiative introduced by DHL International Nigeria Ltd.
The new package called World Medical Express (WMX) – an adaptation of DHL’s Worldwide Parcel Express (WPX) – is ideal for preliminary stages of new drug development as well as animal and human scientific studies. It is alrady in operation in Kenya and South Africa.
In a statement, DHL’s Marketing and Communication Manager Mr. Patrick Egbuchnam observed that WMX has integrated express logistic services and industry specific solutions to meet the needs of clinical trial, research and development and medical communities which help accelerate the whole drug process.
Amongst the unique components of the package are Temperature Controlled Packaging Solutions (TCP); Temperature Testing and Validation Service. The TCP system is designed to ensure safe and compliant transport of pharmaceutical and healthcare related products in ambient, cooled or deep frozen staes for up to 120 hours. A range of cooling media is also available to meet industry-specific temperature requirements of 2-8O centigrade or below minus 20O centigrade. the system will further eliminate cost and hassle of having to replenish cooling mediums in transit.
Egbuchunam reiterated the fact that DHL International understnds the medical industry’s needs and the challenge it presents, thus the company’s decision to deliver cost effectivevalue-based services at reasonable cost to all clients.
