Deutsche Post says no decision to move 1,000 courier jobs to subcontractors

Deutsche Post World Net AG has not made a decision to

replace 1,000 express couriers in its DHL unit with subcontractors, a spokesman

for the company said in response to a pre-released article in Die Zeit weekly

magazine.

‘DHL has always worked with subcontractors,’ he said

A formal agreement stating that the majority of courier services must be

handled by DHL rather than subcontractors recently expired, he added.

Deutsche Post is now in talks with German public services workers union

Verdi, he said, and will make no further announcements until these talks have

been concluded.
