DHL Express Thailand foresees 20 percent growth this year
DHL Express (Thailand) Co Ltd expects to post 20-per-cent revenue growth this year as it expands its services to keep pace with the rapid growth of trade in Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region, managing director Herbert Vongpusanachai said.The company will increase its payload capacity for express service between Thailand and the region and plans to upgrade air express facilities, such as its distribution centres in Thailand, to handle more shipments. DHL Thailand is also continuing with various marketing activities aimed at all target markets.
‘The outlook for the express business is optimistic, with an expected revenue increase of 20 per cent, as earlier targeted,’ said Herbert.
Recently, Deutsche Post World Net, which owns DHL, posted worldwide profits of USD1.68 billion (Bt84.53 billion) during the first six months of 2004, up 14.5 per cent from $1.46 billion during the same period last year.
Group revenues during the first half of 2004 were USD21 billion, a 9.6-per-cent increase over the same period last year.
The highest generated revenue of the group came from the express corporate division, which saw its revenue increase 26.3 per cent to about USD8.7 billion during the reporting period. The division also saw pleasing revenue growth in Asia of more than 19.7 per cent in the first half of 2004.
The logistics corporate division including DHL Danzas Air and Ocean, DHL Solutions and DHL Freight in Europe also posted strong growth, with sales increasing to about USD3.2 billion. In addition, revenues of the mail division and the financial services corporate division, which serves the European market, reached USD6.29 billion and USD3.6 billion, respectively.
