Belgium’s PM Verhofstadt says no deal yet on DHL expansion
Belgian prime minister Guy Verhofstadt told reporters last night that the Belgian regional governments have not reached an accord on the extension of Deutsche Post World Net AG’s unit DHL at Brussels National airport.
Yesterday crisis talks were held as DHL threatened to end its activities in Belgium if it is not allowed to increase its night flights. Verhofstadt said he put on the table a compromise deal which the Flemish and Wallonian governments ‘unfortunately could not approve today’.
Verhofstadt has asked the two governments to meet again today and give their response. DHL said it still hopes for a compromise deal.
