Deutsche Post Provides Ebay Services in Berlin
Deutsche Post, the German postal service operator, is introducing an Ebay auction service in Berlin effective this Friday, which will be accessible even for those without computers. In the first phase it will be limited to 12 post offices, and, if successful, 50 post offices will be participating by the end of this year. The charge for the service will amount to 11.50 euros plus a 20 per cent commission on the sale. The customer is required simply to bring the objects for sale to the post office and complete a form. Goods will then be conveyed to a logistics centre for expert evaluation before each item is made available on the Internet. The customer will be regularly informed regarding the progress of the auction. Once the item has been sold successfully, it will be packaged and payment supervised by Deutsche Post, and, on reception of the purchase price, delivered to the buyer. The postal service operator will directly transfer the sum to the vendor.
