Wincanton’s peak delivery figures on the up
British third-party logistics (3PL) company Wincanton has seen an increase upon last year’s delivery figures in the week leading up to Christmas Day 2019 compared to the previous year’s festive run-up.
Wincanton delivered 110 million litres of fuel to petrol forecourts across the country – up 47% from 2018 – and completed 4,207 shipping container journeys, up 31% from 2018. Wincanton also picked and despatched 25 million cases of food and drink and processed 250,000 pallets of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) products.
James Wroath, CEO of Wincanton, said: “While we spend time relaxing and enjoying the festivities, it’s worth remembering the food in fridges, presents under trees and even the fuel in vehicles have been on long journeys.
“These amazing numbers display the commitment and expertise of Wincanton’s drivers, warehouse teams and everyone across the business. Their huge efforts helped consumers throughout the UK to enjoy Christmas and the New Year with friends, family and loved ones. I’m proud of everyone at Wincanton’s achievements.”
As the largest British 3PL company, Wincanton is an active part of the supply chain all year round. Detailed planning, collaborative working and experience across all areas of logistics and every part of the country mean it is perfectly placed to scale up around peak periods, like Christmas as well as coping with unforeseen upswings in activity, such as summer heatwaves and challenging winters.
