FedEx will raise US rates by 4.6%

FedEx Corp has announced plans to charge higher rates for air and ground shipments, indicating a change in the company’s method for passing along high fuel expenses to clients and strong demand in the freight market. The cost of an average air shipment in the US through FedEx will go up by 4.6% on January 3. Earlier this year, the company raised rates by 2.5% for the same items. FedEx intends to use the rate increases to counteract an expected 2% fall in its fuel surcharge rate, which currently stands at 11%.
