ParcelHero: signs that online grocery providers are coming to terms with demand

As the British Government extends UK’s lockdown for another three weeks, home delivery specialist ParcelHero says the UK will be more dependent than ever on couriers and home delivery drivers to keep people fed, safe and entertained.

ParcelHero’s Head of Consumer Research, David Jinks MILT says: “As most of the nation prepares for another three weeks of life in the great indoors, the UK’s couriers have become true parcel heroes. Whether it’s deliveries of groceries, masks or gifts to while away the long furlough hours, we are all reliant on those men and women who continue to come to our homes, dropping off goods and picking up parcels for customers and loved ones.

“We’ve all become used to the new doorstep delivery etiquette that means drivers stand 2 metres away and watch customers take safe delivery of their parcel. They may even take a picture of the receiver’s address as proof of delivery now that all operators have dropped the need for signatures on a pad. The new routine means drivers and customers feel a lot safer during delivery drop-offs.

“As we come to grips with another three weeks of furlough fatigue, it’s really heartening that so-called  ‘non-essential’ products are, once again, being delivered to our door. Much-loved brands, from Next to Schuh to Dunelm, are finally available once again as our favourite stores come back online. ParcelHero has seen shipments of games, craft materials and even musical instruments soar this week, as we all fight lockdown lethargy. There are even signs that online grocery providers are finally coming to terms with the tsunami of demand. It’s all thanks to the thousands of drivers and couriers who continue to work long hours to get goods to our doorstep.”
