DHL signs multi-million dollar agreement to ship hazmat packages
DHL has been chosen by Acuity Specialty Products (ASP) to handle all small package Hazardous Material (hazmat) requirements to customers nationwide. As part of a two-year, multi-million dollar agreement, ASP will leverage DHL’s ground delivery network and services to ship premium specialty products, including cleaners, deodorisers, disinfectants, herbicides, and pesticides, geared for the industrial, institutional, and retail markets.

Prior to reaching the exclusive agreement with DHL, ASP used a combination of major transportation carriers and local courier services to manage transportation to customers from 31 distribution centres nationwide. ASP consolidated its delivery services to improve service and reliability at the driver level, achieve overall cost savings, and maintain competitiveness.
The agreement calls for DHL to transport via standard ground and regulated HAZMAT shipments. DHL is working closely with ASP to customise a transportation program, with varied automation requirements, to serve the diverse product and shipment volume needs of each distribution facility.
In addition, ASP’s proprietary automation system will be integrated with DHL shipping systems at ASP distribution centres. By integrating technology across DHL and ASP platforms, ASP will maximise shipping efficiencies and will be able to perform all customer service functions in a paperless environment.
