Emirates Post in talks with Libya Post for enhanced cooperation in postal services

The delegation held talks with top officials from the General Corporation for Posts and Telecommunications, Libya.

Emirates Post highlighted the scope for increased cooperation in postal, financial and electronic services, with a focus on Emirates Post’s state of the art infrastructure and the strategy of offering innovative services through the postal network.

A team of Emirates Post led by the Director General, Mr. Abdullah Al Daboos, recently visited Tripoli to enhance postal cooperation between Libya and the UAE.

The Libyan side was represented by Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed Albu Aishi, Director General, Postal Affairs, General Corporation for Posts & Telecommunications, Dr. Sami Al Bakbak, member, Telecommunications Committee, Mr. Mohammed Omar Dakheel, Director Postal Services and Mr. Hadi Al Soodi, Director, Postal Financial Services.

The Emirates Post delegation included Mr. Salem Al Shaya, Assistant Director General, Operations, and Mr. Khalid Shahdoor, Assistant Director General, Information Technology.

Following the talks, the Libyan officials expressed a keen interest in exploring the possibility of signing an agreement to route mail through Emirates Post’s Dubai Mail Transit Hub located at Dubai International Airport.

Both sides agreed to pursue steps to increase the movement of express mail between the two countries and expressed satisfaction over the smooth delivery of express mail in the past, with no record of missing or undelivered mail.

The Libyan officials also showed a keen interest in starting a money transfer service between the UAE and Libya, after obtaining necessary approvals from the Libyan government. They also said they were studying the possibility of using Dubai Mail Transit Hub for mail bound for Asian countries.
