DHL to build 10.5 Mln Euro logistics platform in Bilbao

International express and logistics company DHL, a unit of German postal service operator Deutsche Post, will invest 10.5 mln euro (USD13.6 mln) in a new logistic platform at the Loiu airport in Bilbao, Vizcaya province, northern Spain, it was reported on February 4, 2005.

The new platform will spread over 18,000 sq m of which 6,200 storage area and 1,275 office area. The platform will include 94 points for loading and unloading. The platform will be fully automated. DHL will install a system with a capacity to handle 4,500 parcels an hour. The construction works are scheduled to begin at the end of 2005. The new platform will serve DHL operations in the Vizcaya province.
