DHL Express, Stolica, Masterlink Dominate Polish Express Market
Polish express delivery market is dominated by DHL Express, Stolica and Masterlink, which together controlled 59 pct of the market in 2003, Masterlink said.
DHL Express was the leader with a 25 pct market share, Stolica was second with a 22 pct share and Masterlink came third with 12 pct.
There are several hundred companies providing express delivery services although only 60 of them are licenced. The strong competition on the domestic market forces express delivery companies to widen the range of services and to reduce prices.
Masterlink introduced its SMS service called Awizo and Factura Online to improve the communication with its clients.
Stolica introduced loyalty programmes for its regular clients. TNT Express offers domestic, international and specialised services around the clock.
DHL Express introduced its new service called European Community Express (ECX) on May 1, 2004, the day of Poland’s accession to the European Union. ECX is a next-day air delivery service for documents and parcels to any destination on the territory of the EU.
