French La Poste to sell 70 pct of TAT Express

French national post office La Poste announced its plans to sell up to 70 pct of the share capital of its subsidiary, express freight transport company TAT Express, to an unnamed French company, it was reported on March 17, 2005.

The French trade unions had been informed for this decision at an extraordinary works’ council dedicated to the opening of the capital of TAT Express on March 10, 2005. TAT Express launched a restructuring plan in December 2003 which led to 200 job cuts and modification of the work contracts of another 200 company employees. TAT Express reduced its agencies in France to 33 and generated a 150 mln euro ($200.5 mln) turnover for 2004.

TAT Express employs 1,300 and is a subsidiary of GeoPost, the holding which regroups the main French and European parcels trademarks of La Poste group. TAT Express was founded in 1976 and since 1994 has been part of La Poste group.

La Poste (www.laposte.fr) provides postal and financial services. The group offers airmail via L’Aeropostale subsidiary, express letter and parcel delivery through Chronopost International unit.

París, 17 mar (EFE).- La empresa estatal francesa de Correos La Poste ha decidido desprenderse de su filial de transporte de paquetes TAT Express, al poner a la venta el 70 por ciento de su capital, informaron los sindicatos y confirmó la dirección.

Se ha interesado en TAT Express un “comprador francés”, cuya identidad no ha sido divulgada, según las fuentes.

Los sindicatos fueron informados de esta decisión durante un comité de empresa extraordinario el pasado día 10.

TAT Express, que tiene una plantilla de 1.300 trabajadores, es una filial de Geopost, el “holding” que reagrupa todos los operadores de transporte y reparto de paquetes de La Poste. EFE
