DHL to complete new Paris hub by October 2021

Yesterday DHL Express announced it is investing EUR170 million in its new hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, marking the company’s largest investment in France since commencing operations in the country in 1976, reports CAPA.

Once commissioned in Oct-2021, the facility will have capacity to process 38,000 packages per hour, more than 15 times greater than DHL’s existing facility. Construction of the 34,000sqm operating area commenced on a 91,000sqm site in Mar-2020.

DHL Express forecasts continued growth in express transport in France of around 8% p/a for the period 2021 to 2025. DHL parcel volumes in France increased 8% year-on-year in 2019 and the company expects growth of around 5% to more than 41 million parcels in 2020. DHL holds a 37% share of the French international express transport market.
