New Zealand Datamail goes postal

NZ POST subsidiary Datamail is broadening its operations in Australia by partnering with Connxion, an Australian document producer.

David Allen, general manager of Datamail’s document solutions group, says the partnership allows Australian companies to print and lodge business documents in the New Zealand postal system.

He says the company has been working with Connxion for some time and is now ready to go live with DHL.

“DHL’s central hub is in Sydney and all its billing for New Zealand customers was done from Australia at significant cost.”

Connxion uses an application service provider model to upload an organisation’s business documents to a server from which documents are delivered via multiple channels such as mail houses, email and SMS.

At this stage Datamail is specifically looking for Australian businesses producing mail in New Zealand.

Allen says the intention is to offer the same service for local companies to Australia and believes Datamail is poised to join the wider global community.

The company already has relationships in Malaysia and recently set up a hub in Fiji for New Zealand companies with a presence there. Last year Datamail acquired the business process outsourcing company Outsource Australia.
