Italy ICI payments via Poste Italiane website increase

Payments of the municipal property tax ICI carried out via the website of Italy’s state-owned postal services company Poste Italiane registered a considerable increase, totalling 75,000 in the first half of 2005.

In the year 2004, on-line ICI payments totalled 57,000.

In the northern region of Veneto, on-line payments stood at 4,030 in the first half of 2005, against 3,500 in 2004.

Poste Italiane’s website can be utilised also to pay other taxes and bills, such as gas, electricity, telephone bills, parking or speeding fines and car insurance fees. [Editor’s note: Poste Italiane registered a consolidated net profit of 236 mln euro ($287.2 mln) for 2004, compared to 90.3 mln euro ($109.9 mln) for 2003, ANSA reported on February 22, 2005. The company’s earning before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 56.7 pct to 1.8 bln euro ($2.191 bln).](ANSA).
