Courier grows with networks
‘On the APC side of business we sell on service, never on price, and we’ve won a lot of business with that principle. With pallets its slightly harder because once a customer uses one system its hard to get them to change because there’s not a lot that can go wrong with a pallet delivery.’
It has now launched a major push on selling its services and has taken on seven new sales and customer services staff. The company has also just completed a £500,00 hub investment programme, relocating from Sheffield to a 1,200 sqm distribution centre in Templeborough, Rotherham, close to J13 of the M1. The facility is four times the size of its previous premises and has a roller conveyor for slicker parcel sortation and handling.
‘As well as extending the space for existing operations, the depot allows us to expand our increasing involvement in storage and pick and padck operations’ says Johnson. The expansion has already created 10 jobs, with another 20 to be added within the next year. The firm also plans to develop its wine distribution service from the hub which is fully bonded, delivering locally on behalf of wine merchants. Courier Logistics runs s fleet of 40 vehicles. It inputs 3,500 parcels a night into APC and 50 pallets a night into Pallet-Track.
