DHL to merge Hungarian units
Express delivery company DHL will merge its two units in Hungary next year, DHL Express Magyarorszag marketing manager Joseph Borocz said.
The two units, DHL Express Magyarorszag and DHL Nemzetkozi es Logisztikai, have operated in unison since 2002, when Deutsche Post World Net acquired 100pc of DHL.
DHL Express Magyarorszag had revenue of HUF 17.9bn in 2004. This year the company expects revenue of HUF 19.3bn, and it targets revenue of HUF 20.3bn in 2006. DHL Magyarorszag made 1.3m deliveries in 2004. It expects to make 1.4m this year and 2m in 2006.
DHL Express Magyarorszag started making deliveries outside of Hungary a year ago. Mr Borocz noted that, while just four other companies offer express delivery outside of Hungary — TNT, UPS, FedEx and Magyar Posta — there are hundreds of smaller companies which compete on the market for deliveries inside Hungary.
After Hungary joined the EU, DHL Magyarorszag’s deliveries outside Hungary may rose 20pc annually, Mr Borocz added.
