TNT UAE targets 60 per cent on-line shipments by mid 2006

The forecasted target comes as the company launches an electronic booking confirmation service in the Emirates, which alerts customers, via email, that collection requests have been received.

‘UAE usage of our I.T products has more than doubled over the last two years and we plan to grow it even further through our territory management process, specifically by visiting our customers and selling the benefits,

TNT Express, the world’s leading business-to-business express delivery company, aims to have 60 per cent of its UAE consignments booked through its on-line products by mid 2006.

‘said Mark Pell, TNT’s Managing Director, Gulf.

To use the system, customers require an active account with TNT’s on-line service ‘myTNT’ and an e-mail address to which confirmations can be sent. The email contains details such as booking reference, company name, where packages should be collected and the date and time the pick-up takes place.

The system will be rolled out in Bahrain and Kuwait by November this year.

‘We’re expanding our Information Communications Services (ICS) function and currently have personnel in all major Gulf locations to service and install software,’ added Pell.

All TNT customers are entitled to free software from its range of I.T products and key clients also receive hardware which includes printers and consumables.
