Spanish Correos Buys 297 New Vehicles for 2.5 Mln Euro

Spanish state-run postal services provider Correos bought 297 new vehicles for 2.5 mln euro ($2.9 mln) in order to renew and increase its fleet, the company said on November 25, 2005.

Of the total, 11 are delivery vans of the Cabstar model of Japanese carmaker Nissan with a capacity to transport up to 950 kg.

Correos bought also 92 delivery vans of the Kangoo model of French carmaker Renault, transporting 600 kg as a maximum, and 24 passenger cars of Renault model, Clio. The company acquired also 170 motorcycles of Italian motorcycle manufacturer Piaggio-Vespa-Gilera.

Correos has renewed 17 pct of its total fleet in 2005. At present Correos fleet consists of over 10,500 vehicles, used for an average of less than six years.
