DHL to invest USD2.0 mln in Colombia 2006

DHL Global Forwarding Colombia plans to invest around $2.0 mln (1.67 mln euro) in improvement of its services in 2006, the company’s manager, Alvaro Mancilla, said on February 19, 2006.

DHL Global Forwarding Colombia, a subsidiary of global carrier and package delivery company DHL, will invest the sum mainly for expansion of its cargo platforms in the city of Cali and along the Colombian Atlantic coast.

The Colombian company exported 42,000 tonnes of cargo and imported 123,000 tonnes in 2005, and its sales totalled $60 mln (50.2 mln euro).

Due to overall economic stability and improving market conditions in Colombia, the Colombian unit expects sales to increase by 20 pct year-on-year in 2006.
