
DHL acquires Disfast in Spain
DHL, the leading Express and Logistics Company and subsidiary of Deutsche Post World Net, has acquired the Spanish logistics group Disfast on December 5, 2005.
Founded in 1990, Disfast is a small logistics company in the area of Madrid with a strong presence in the fashion industry at Madrid region. Specialized in the distribution of hanging garments mainly in and around Madrid, Disfast complements DHL’s domestic activities in Spain. The company has estimated revenue of 8 million euros for 2006, and serves over 200 customers with roughly 50 employees.
Disfast will be integrated in DHL Exel Supply Chain, the division that includes all the logistics solutions and warehousing, resulting from the integrations of DHL Solutions and Exel, after the purchase of this last one by the Deutsche Post World Net in December 2005.
Francisco Bernal, General Manager of DHL Exel Supply Chain said: “Spain’s contract logistics market still holds big potential with considerable growth. DHL is responding to this trend with this acquisition which will strengthen our position in the domestic market.” Both parties have agreed not to disclose financial details.
