FM Logistic expands in Asia
FM Logistic has opened its 5th multi-customer facility (and first owned) in India. The multi-customer facility in India, inaugurated on 26 April, will offer 70000 square meters of warehouse space.
Located in Farrukhagar, a strategic location near the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (Delhi) highway, it will allow faster access to major consumer centres in the North.
This state-of-the-art facility will provide cutting-edge warehousing, handling, co-packing and distribution services to meet the needs of e-commerce and omnichannel customers. The construction of the warehouse was managed by NG Concept, FM Logistic‘s real estate sister company, to provide cost-effective and quality storage, handling and distribution services. Every precaution was taken to ensure the safety, security and well-being of all employees at the facility. It is also the first facility of its kind in India to combine FM Global and LEED Silver certifications for its high level of performance in terms of building safety and environment.
The warehouse is part of the French 3PL leader’s €150 million five-year investment plan announced in March 2019.
Consumer goods giant chooses FM Logistic for its urban logistics activities in Vietnam
This inauguration comes as FM Logistic has just announced the opening of a new 20.000 sqm multi-client urban distribution center in Di An, Binh Duong in Vietnam. One of the first customers is an international FMCG company which awarded FM Logistic a major contract in February to manage its omnichannel logistics and last-mile delivery for nearly 10,000 traditional grocery shops in Ho Chi Minh City. The new facility will integrate warehousing, picking and distribution under one roof and will focus on omnichannel distribution in Ho Chi Minh City. The Di An urban distribution center echoes FM Logistic 50.000 sqm Grade A urban distribution center at VSIP Bac Ninh, which already handles urban distribution in Hanoi.
Urban logistics: a challenge in Asia
B2C and business-to-business e-commerce, which consists of digitizing the distribution of consumer products through a dedicated marketplace application, is booming, particularly in South Asia and South East Asia. It represents a real challenge for Asian cities, which are facing tight time slots for urban deliveries, congested traffic and increasing air pollution. Brands, manufacturers and retailers need to find innovative solutions to deliver their products to consumers in a more efficient and sustainable way. By helping them develop omnichannel urban solutions, FM Logistic is supporting them to meet this challenge.
Through its “Powering 2030” strategy, FM Logistic is committed to responding to the major changes in the retail and FMCG sectors, as well as in supply chain management and the boom of e-commerce. Currently, more than 60% of FM Logistic‘s new contracts worldwide are for omnichannel logistics services. The company is investing heavily in automation across its markets to support its e-commerce operations.
