Gophr appoints VP of Engineering

Same-day delivery business Gophr has appointed Thomas Bradford as VP of Engineering. His arrival signals a doubling down on innovation to drive Gophr’s ambition to become the market leader for smart delivery solutions.

Bradford brings over 30 years of experience in software engineering and architecture mainly supporting medium-to-large organisations through the scale-up phase of growth.

He joins from SMG Swiss Marketplace Group, a leading European digital company, where he was Director of Software Development and prior to that, Director of Engineering at group-owned digital business, Scout24.  Earlier in his career he held roles at Blacklane, Zalando and PayPal.

Bradford will head up Gophr’s development team, covering finance, product and engineering, and report into CEO and Founder, Seb Robert.  The VP of Engineering role is a new one within Gophr and comes at a crucial moment in its growth cycle as it plans to launch a new product suite later in Q3.  The market can expect to see Gophr drive an increasingly rapid pace of innovation across its customer and courier products including a new booking engine later this year.

Bradford comments: “I am motivated by products with the potential to create value for the world, and by purpose-driven teams who are dedicated to realising that value. Gophr is a group of people who believe in the democratisation of an industry that has proven to be of absolute importance to the functioning of today’s society. There are so many exciting tech advances that are changing the face of this industry and it’s great to be part of a business that is at the forefront of it all. I’m very excited to join Gophr on their journey.”

Seb Robert, CEO and Founder at Gophr, comments: “We were very clear in what we wanted from our first ever development lead and took our time to find the right person. Thomas ticks all the boxes; his combined retail/ecommerce, financial management and transport sector knowledge plus technical know-how are off the scale impressive.

“His skillset as well as his cultural fit stood out instantly both to our technical and leadership teams.  He demonstrated an innate understanding of what we need to do in order to realise our ambitions for Gophr and we can expect to see an exciting road map of product innovations from the business in the months ahead.

“I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved at Gophr in the last 12 to 18 months. We’ve expanded across the UK and now operate in 45 plus cities. Not only that, our performance and margins are rising as we increase our density and that’s an extraordinary achievement to show our investors. The next couple of years look equally exciting as we build on our successes to date. Watch this space!”
