Walmart expanding InHome deliveries to the garage
US retail giant Walmart is working with smart technology provider myQ to expand its InHome online shopping delivery service to the garage.
In a statement issued last week, Walmart said that millions of US homeowners who already use the myQ app to control their garage door will soon – if they are also Walmart+ InHome members – be able to have their Walmart groceries and household essentials conveniently delivered to their garage.
Furthermore, InHome associates will also be able to pick up returns within the garage, eliminating the hassle of returns for customers.
“The goal of Walmart+ InHome is to give our members convenience and choice and, over the last few years, we’ve discovered our in-garage delivery option is a popular choice among members,” said Whitney Pegden, VP and GM, InHome. “We’re really excited for myQ smart garage technology to help us reach more customers with a more seamless in-garage experience.”
One of the key advantages of using smart technology for -in-garage deliveries is that provides a great level of security for deliveries made when the customer is not at home. In addition, the groceries can be kept fresh, as the InHome delivery personnel can deposit items in the garage fridge (where available).
