Post Offices for UK WH Smith stores planned

The Royal Mail is planning to open post offices at WH Smith stores including a branch in Slough.

Under the partnership deal proposal, WH Smith will integrate post offices into their retail stores.

Post Office programme director Byron Roberts said: “This partnership between two trusted organisations is good news for customers and will enable us to both safeguard and enhance their Post Office services in the future.

“WH Smith Retail’s huge experience and knowledge will ensure that Post Office customers continue to receive a high standard of service.”

Local communities will be consulted over the next six weeks about the plans, which come against a background of continuing losses in the Post Office’s directly managed network – £50m last year.

The Post Office said the proposal followed other retail partnerships it had entered into to run branches more efficiently while providing customers with enhanced facilities, including longer opening hours.
