Pos Malaysia and Nationwide Express form strategic partnership
Pos Malaysia and the independent Malaysian parcels firm Nationwide Express have officially launched a strategic partnership. The initiative follows a recent cooperation agreement between the Malaysian postal authority and Singapore Post.
Under the agreement, customers will be able to buy stamps and philatelic items at over 100 Nationwide Express offices across the country. Pos Malaysia has a network of 650 post offices across the south-east Asia state.
“Through our strategic partnership with Nationwide Express, Pos Malaysia Berhad offers a more accessible means for stamp enthusiasts in purchasing stamps and philatelic items. This is part of our ongoing plans to offer ease and convenience to our customers in line with our quest to become a more customer-centric organisation,” said Dato’ Ikmal Hijaz Hashim, CEO of Pos Malaysia.
Pos Malaysia is pursuing its vision of becoming “the preferred service company in the ASEAN physical communication and integrated logistics industry by 2006” and joining “the world leaders in the distribution of physical communication and integrated logistics by 2020”. Its courier unit PosLaju offers domestic parcel services and internationally though partner companies.
Nationwide Express, listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, is one of the leading locally-owned express parcels operators in Malaysia. For the financial year ending March 31, 2006, its turnover rose by 5.77% to RM73.45 million while its pre-tax profits dropped by 28.35% to RM6.14 million.
