DPDHL rebrand: We remain “The Post for Germany “

Deutsche Post DHL Group today announced that it will change its group name to “DHL Group” as of July 1, 2023. The new name reflects the transformation that the Group has undergone in recent years and takes into account the focus on national and international logistics activities as a driver for future growth.

“Over the past decade, the megatrends of globalization, e-commerce, digitalization and sustainability have had a very positive impact on our business and will continue to do so. They have opened up new growth opportunities for us in many areas,” says CEO Tobias Meyer. “Today, we are one of the most international companies in the world. The name DHL Group and the use of the DHL logo for the Group reflects the development of our company’s business activities, which outside Germany uses almost exclusively the DHL brand, which is also becoming increasingly important in Germany.”

Already, more than 90% of the Group’s revenue comes from businesses operating under the DHL brand, including DHL’s parcel business in Germany.

The strong brands Deutsche Post and DHL remain unchanged

The Deutsche Post and DHL brands will continue to be used in Germany as before. “We are very proud of Deutsche Post’s tradition, its rich heritage and its history, which dates back to the 15th century,” says Tobias Meyer. “We value the Deutsche Post brand and will continue to use it in our joint branding with DHL. We remain “The Post for Germany “.

With one exception, the DHL divisions will continue to operate under their previous names: As of July 1, the Group will also standardize and simplify the name of the DHL eCommerce Solutions division, whose operating units also operate under the name “DHL Parcel” in some countries. In the future, the division will uniformly use DHL eCommerce as its name.

This renaming has no impact on the service offerings of the business segments: The Group will continue to offer and invest in a wide range of e-commerce-related logistics services in all business areas – such as inbound logistics, fulfillment as well as express, parcel and returns services.

Stock exchange symbol becomes DHL

The new group name has no effect on the name of the listed parent company, which will continue to be called Deutsche Post AG. The ticker symbol, which is currently ‘DPW’, will be changed to ‘DHL’ in order to better position the company’s global portfolio in the financial markets and to take advantage of the strong recognition of the DHL brand there as well.

The change in the Group name has no effect on the names or characteristics of the Group’s legal entities, in particular Deutsche Post AG, or on internal and external relations with these entities.

From July 1, 2023, the Group will use the name DHL Group in its internal and external communication and presentation. The re-branding of some physical assets will only happen over time to avoid additional costs.
