TNT Helps the News Flow at the FT

The mailroom management arm of a business-to-business express delivery giant has scooped a new two-year contract to provide a range of services for one of the most famous newspapers in the world.

TNT Managed Services, a division on TNT Express Specialist Services, has been tasked to provide a full goods in/goods out, portering and mailroom solution at the Financial Times headquarters building at Number One, Southwark Bridge, central London.

The contract involves the management of all external deliveries into the seven floors at the FT building, internal distribution from loading bay areas and the mailroom to designated delivery points throughout the offices.

The new contract builds on the strong relationship between the FT and TNT – TNT’s Newsfast division has been responsible for the movement of the newspaper to central newspaper distribution depots for the past 18 years.

Dominic Andronicou, Client Relationship Manager, TNT Managed Services, said: “We’re very excited about being able to provide this service at such a world-renown name like the Financial Times.

“We’re currently undertaking an operational review to streamline the service and make it as efficient and flexible as possible.

“For instance, at the moment, each floor has approximately 20 delivery points which we aim to reduce to two or three per floor. The FT is moving towards a ‘service pod’ strategy, like many other major companies in the UK.

“All this comes at a time when the FT is undergoing a two-year refurbishment project at the building, so it’s great to play a part in what looks like a very bright future indeed.”
