DHL reports 40% rise in UAE shipments
Express logistics provider DHL says its UAE shipments are up by 40 per cent and has responded by opening four new service points in the country.
The new service points are located at Deira and Sharjah City Centre, Mall of the Emirates and Dragon Mart and are additional to the 21 existing sites in the UAE. DHL’s UAE general manager, David Wild states, “Our new service points ensure customers can deal with their shipments while they shop. ”
He added: “We are witnessing huge growth in the number of shipments originating from our service points, with figures up 40 per cent year-on-year. ”
“The results are a clear indicator that a large number of small medium enterprises and retail customers prefer to walk into stores to drop off their shipments, rather than use the home pick-up option,” said Wild.

The company posts world net business on target with consolidated revenue up to 29. 3 billion euros in the first half of 2006. Operating profit was slightly down to approximately 1. 6 billion euros.
