Jersey Post: new CCO will tackle the unique challenges of operating on an island

Jersey Post: new CCO will tackle the unique challenges of operating on an island

Jersey Post has appointed a new Chief Commercial Officer – Tom Wasilewski.

Tom has previously worked at Royal Mail, DHL and the Post Office, and has over 20 years experience in the UK and international mail and parcel industry. He started his career in international operations at Royal Mail, before moving to commercial, where he held a number of roles in which he was responsible for launching Royal Mail’s first digital postage solution and turning around its international business. From Royal Mail, he moved to DHL Global Mail UK where he was Commercial Director, responsible for its domestic, cross-border and airfreight business, and European Business Development Director. He joins Jersey Post from the UK post office, where he was responsible for developing and delivering the new parcel strategy, which saw the previously exclusive use of the Post Office retail network by Royal Mail opened to other carriers such as Amazon, DPD, DHL and Evri.

Tom says: “I’m delighted to be joining Jersey Post. It’s a very exciting time for the group, which also has interests in global logistics, freight, and regulatory technology, with offices in Jersey, the UK and the US. We deliver over 11 million letters every year and 4 million parcels, to over 44,000 addresses on the island of Jersey, operating a 5 day a week service. Our partners in the UK include Royal Mail and Parcelforce, as well as Amazon, DPD, Yodel, UPS and Hello Fresh. Whilst we share many of the same challenges that other postal services around the world are facing, such as the decline in sending letters and the cost of living, we also have our own unique challenges being on an island, such as our reliance on our ferry service, the impact of the weather and our partners in the UK for our off-island service. It’s a great team at Jersey Post, with a wealth of experience in the postal industry. I’m looking forward to using my experience from roles at Royal Mail, DHL and the Post Office to make a positive impact at Jersey Post.”
