FedEx: Singapore’s geographic advantages make it a natural gateway

FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., opened its new regional headquarters today in Singapore housing teams that support its operations in Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa.

This strategic move marks a new beginning that will position the company to manage some of the fastest growing markets in the world, accelerate growth, and help shape what’s next for its customers.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan; US Ambassador to Singapore, Mr. Jonathan Kaplan; and Chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), Mr. Png Cheong Boon. Global FedEx leaders, including Mr. Raj Subramaniam, president and CEO of FedEx Corporation, and Mr. Richard W. Smith, president and CEO, Airline and International of FedEx Express, were also present to celebrate the occasion.

“This is a strategic step in connecting businesses in our vast region with greater speed and agility,” said Kawal Preet, president of Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa, FedEx Express. “Singapore’s geographic advantages make it a natural gateway which allows us to tap the immense opportunities presented by the fast-moving markets of the region, especially in Southeast Asia. As companies look to build more resilience in their supply chains, this move underlines our commitment to enhance the region’s logistics infrastructure.”

FedEx will continue to actively collaborate with local authorities to boost logistics capabilities, directly investing in logistics networks across the region, and sharing industrial expertise and technology to elevate logistics operations standards.

“We welcome the new FedEx regional headquarters to Singapore. This move is a vote of confidence in Singapore as a key global hub for trade, logistics, and connectivity, and the key role that Singapore plays in strengthening the resilience of global supply chains,” said Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan.

Building on 40 years of growing its presence in the city state, the opening of its new regional headquarters will provide employees in Singapore with increased opportunities for international exposure, contributing to the professional development of Singapore’s workforce in the global market.

Singapore is already the location of the FedEx South Pacific hub that serves as a central point for its operations across Southeast Asia and the FedEx Life Science Center providing specialist cold chain solutions for the healthcare sector. FedEx has also established a Center of Excellence for Data Analytics in the city which applies advanced digital technology to develop new solutions that make supply chains smarter.

Singapore is also the location of the Asia Pacific Security Operations Center (APSOC). APSOC operates 24/7, employing state-of-the-art technology to monitor critical events, and safeguard FedEx assets and customer property in the Asia Pacific region.

Situated at Centennial Tower, the new regional headquarters, spanning 2,694 square meters, prioritises sustainability. The office incorporates green-certified renovation products, with approximately 80% of new materials meeting local certification standards. Additionally, energy-efficient electrical fixtures and automatic lighting controls are employed to reduce electrical consumption.
