Correos makes further steps to guarantee financial inclusion in Spain

Correos and Banco Santander to allow citizens to request the delivery of cash at home through their 6,000 postmen.

This is a new stage in the agreement that both entities have maintained since 2021 to guarantee the financial inclusion of all people in Spain.

This money can be received at homes throughout Spain through the 30,000 postmen and wallets that Correos has – urban and rural -, without needing to have the online banking service or the bank’s app to make the request or having to go to the Post Office, as was the case until now.

This allows us to offer a more personalized and close service, through a trusted person and without having to travel, something especially valued in the case of older people or people with reduced mobility who have difficulties leaving their home. The customer will simply have to tell the postman the amount of cash he wants to receive at home (up to 500 euros). The postman will verify the identity of the applicant through the identity document and mark the request on his mobile device. The application will indicate to Correos that that person is a customer of the bank and that they have sufficient balance in their account.

Once the request is made, the client will be informed via SMS on the day of the cash delivery. The postman will take the requested amount of money to your home with all the security guarantees in the transportation process and identification of the service requester.

In addition, the Correos Cash service offers the possibility of withdrawing and depositing cash at the more than 4,600 Correos citizen service points. To be able to carry out this type of operation from any Post office, it is only necessary to identify yourself with your DNI and have a bank card from the entity that completes the identification process. The operation is free for bank clients in those Post Offices located in towns where the entity is not present (with a limit of two operations per month).

Banco Santander has a direct physical presence through its offices and agents in 21% of the municipalities of Spain, which comprise 88% of the population. Through Correos, the financial institution is present in 46% of Spanish municipalities, providing coverage to 97% of the population. Santander was the first banking entity in Spain to commit to bringing basic financial services closer in alliance with Correos and now takes another step in this commitment, offering an additional physical service, close and non-digital, adapted to older people, with mobility of reduced or accessibility difficulties or simply anyone who prefers this service for convenience.
