DHL is opening the first Centre of Excellence for electric mobility on the European mainland in Pozzuolo Martesana (near Milan), Italy, to advance the new electric age.
In collaboration with DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation’s electric vehicle team, the Center of Excellence for Electric Mobility offers DHL Global Forwarding’s combined warehousing and freight management, including ocean and air freight services, complemented by DHL Express network solutions for global distribution. This state-of-the-art facility, with an area of about 10,000 square meters, is a logistics hub adapted to the increasing demand for electric vehicles in the Italian market, specifically targeting the growing electric vehicle industry.

The Center of Excellence for Electric Mobility in Italy includes inbound and outbound logistics with various modes of transport, warehousing including additional services such as battery testing and charging, and complete aftermarket management for batteries. This also includes dealer service in the event of warranty claims, battery removal replacement. In addition to these key advantages, customers enjoy seamless integration into a pan-European network designed for lithium batteries. In addition to a modern warehouse, the site offers extensive energy storage capacities as well as specialized service offerings tailored to two-wheelers. In addition, the Center of Excellence for Electromobility has temperature- and humidity-controlled rooms and thus has a holistic solution that includes rooms for both normal and hazardous substances. The services are provided by trained teams from the electric vehicle industry; for air freight tasks, customers can rely on teams that are certified according to IATA CEIV. In addition, customers have the opportunity to draw on the expertise of the Formula E logistics team, which is headquartered in Italy.
As the sixth hub in a worldwide network, the Center of Excellence for Electric Mobility in Milan offers international customers the advantage of its strategic location in Italy as a car country as well as in the neighboring European markets. The facility currently serves a wide range of customers, including established original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and automakers from Italy, various European countries, the United States and China.
