Kazpost joins forces with YTO Express
Yesterday in Astana, at a meeting of the Kazakhstan-China Business Council, an Agreement on the creation of a joint venture between JSC Kazpost and the Chinese company YTO Express Co. was signed.
The ceremonial event took place within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit dedicated to the theme: Strengthening Multilateral Dialogue – Striving for Sustainable Peace and Development.
The joint venture will engage in a wide range of activities, including international express delivery, freight transportation, customs clearance, and warehousing. Plans include the creation of high-tech multimodal warehouses, making it possible for Kazakhstan to become a logistics hub between Central Asia and Europe.
The Kazakhstan-China project became possible thanks to the support of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart К. Tokayev. During his visit to the People’s Republic of China in Beijing on October 17, 2023, a Memorandum of Bilateral Cooperation between JSC Kazpost and YTO Express Co. was signed to strengthen trade and logistics ties between China, Central Asia, and Europe.
“The creation of the joint venture is the result of the hard work done by the employees of both companies. Last year, we developed a clear plan for interaction, involving all necessary resources, including modern technological capabilities. The implementation of intelligent IT solutions will allow us to automate the logistics network processes and ensure customs support for postal shipments. Moreover, by using unified integration, we can minimize the volume of manual labour and significantly reduce delivery times,” noted Asel Zhanassova, Chairman of the Board of JSC Kazpost.
It should be recalled that on the eve of the signing of the strategic partnership document, a joint pilot project by JSC Kazpost and YTO Express Co. for the delivery of postal items, integrated into the IT services of the companies, was launched in Almaty. This service is designed for the direct delivery of e-commerce goods from major Chinese online stores to Kazakhstan.
The signing of the joint venture agreement opens new prospects for the development of economic ties between Kazakhstan and China and stimulates integration into the global economy through the enhancement of trade and logistics flows.
