DHL to “set new standards for sustainable innovation” with new partnership

Envision Group, a global greentech company, and DHL Group, have agreed on a strategic partnership that will provide comprehensive collaboration on logistics solutions and mutual support to accelerate the implementation of sustainability goals.

The agreement covers four key areas: logistics solutions, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green energy and the joint development of a “Net Zero Industrial & Logistic Park”. By combining DHL Group’s extensive logistics expertise with Envision’s solutions expertise in renewable energy, the partnership is expected to contribute to faster implementation of environmental energy initiatives. Both companies are committed to sustainability and have set net-zero emissions targets.

SAF is a key focus of this partnership. Both companies see SAF as a crucial factor in reducing CO2 emissions from aviation and driving the decarbonization of the aviation industry. DHL wants to increase the SAF share of its fuel mix to 30 percent by 2030. As part of this strategic collaboration, Envision will drive an expansion of its global SAF capacity and contribute to the logistics company’s goals to reduce CO₂ emissions by providing SAF to DHL. In addition, Envision will explore new sources of renewable raw materials and new technological approaches for continuous decarbonization of aviation.

“The transport sector, and in particular the production and use of sustainable fuels, plays a critical role in the decarbonisation of the economy, but is currently lagging behind the targets, mainly due to the high cost of green hydrocarbons and their derivatives,” said Zhang Lei, CEO of Envision Group. “Envision is addressing this cost factor with systematic technological innovations to revolutionize SAF production and enable the development of this ‘new oil’ on an industrial scale, supporting global efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.”

In addition, Envision will provide comprehensive solutions for the energy transition, such as green electricity, to support DHL’s renewable energy goals.

DHL will leverage its extensive network of more than 220 countries and territories to help Envision realize its development plans and enter new renewable energy markets as a key strategic partner. As Envision’s preferred logistics partner, DHL will provide fully integrated logistics solutions to increase efficiency and quality, ensure seamless global supply chain management, and assist Envision in addressing regulatory requirements and operational challenges.

“The cooperation agreement with Envision is further proof of DHL Group’s successful positioning as a pioneer in sustainable logistics. With our unique logistics expertise and global network, we are partnering with Envision in its international expansion and logistics challenges,” said Tobias Meyer, Chief Executive Officer at DHL Group. “Together, we will lead the shift towards green technology integration and supply chain optimization, and set new standards for sustainable innovation and global environmental impact in the energy transition.”

Envision and DHL also plan to jointly develop and build a “Net Zero Industrial & Logistic Park” for various industries. The Net Zero Industrial Park is a novel industrial park powered by a comprehensive clean energy solution that brings together the supply chains of various industries such as EV and battery manufacturing. The aim is to promote novel power supply systems and green industrial ecosystems in order to ultimately drive the green transition for customers worldwide. The concept, initially launched by Envision in China, is now being implemented in Europe, the Middle East and beyond with DHL’s support to provide innovative solutions for the global transition to net zero.
