WMX Asia Conference: Industry Leaders Tackle E-Commerce, Electrification, and Digital Transformation
On Day 1 of the World Mail & Express Asia Conference in Hong Kong, 200 delegates from the post and parcel industry gathered to discuss pressing industry trends and innovations. Topics ranged from the electrification of delivery fleets to the growing impact of social commerce on logistics
Here are some of the highlights from the presentations:
-
2024 Postal Perspectives: Navigating New Frontiers – Retail e-commerce sales worldwide maintain strong growth. Hong Kong Post brings business and overseas business to the mainland market using Douyin (Chinese version of TikTok). Customers want speed, convenience and transparency. Postal operators are establishing track and trace systems, real-time delivery notifications, integration of PUDO (Pick Up Drop Off) points and focus on sustainability by converting a lot of fleets to EVs.
-
Staying relevant: The importance of diversification & transformation! – Beyon Connect offers four integrated trust products to facilitate digital transformation, such as a digital face ID and wallet using biometrics, digital signing and highly digital post box. Non-tracked items have seen a 109% price hike, with registered items up 66% over 5 years. Through strategic diversification such as having a protected USO, you can transform from a postal operator to a global player.
-
Unlocking Global Opportunities: E-commerce and Cross-Border Logistics in Asia – Grow global with local – local fulfilment and placing stocks close to customers is key. Sell on all channels via automated multichannel selling, sync inventory to all channels and fulfil for marketplaces and D2C. Have an end-to-end logistics platform and a wide range of delivery options.
-
Customer-Centric Strategies: Meeting the Demands of the Modern Customer – adding trust to each customer at the doorstep is key. Automating the sorting of parcels is critical in order to meet the volume. Use technology to assign HS (Harmonised System) codes to classify globally traded products, reducing the time required to manually assign codes for each country. The rise of e-commerce in Asia via TikTok from platforms such as Alibaba, Shein, TikTok and Temu is rapidly growing.
Last night’s Welcome Reception was nothing short of spectacular! Sponsored by CCL, the event was held at the stylish Garage Bar at the Cordis Hotel where delegates were treated to a mesmerising performance by dragon dancers.
