New CEO for Österreichische Post AG.

As of October 1, 2024, Walter Oblin will be the new CEO of Österreichische Post AG.

Born in Villach, he joined Swiss Post in October 2009 as Head of Strategy and Group Development. In July 2012, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer and in January 2019 Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and also assumed responsibility for the Mail & Direct Mail Division. Now Walter Oblin succeeds Georg Pölzl, who has been CEO since 2009 and has been the company’s longest-serving CEO for a long time.

Walter Oblin’s Board of Management responsibilities include responsibilities for Corporate Communications & Customer Relations, Branches, Mail & Direct Mail, Post Business Solutions, Investor Relations, Group Auditing & Compliance, Group Strategy, Digital & Innovation and Human Resources Management.

“I am pleased that my successor could be filled from within our own ranks. Walter Oblin, a long-standing colleague on the Board of Management and companion who has known Swiss Post for 15 years in various positions and will continue to develop the Group and its employees in the best possible way, will take over the management. I believe that Austrian Post is also very well positioned for the future,” explains Georg Pölzl, former CEO of Österreichische Post AG.

“As a long-standing member of the Management Board and colleague, I hold Walter Oblin in high esteem and look forward to working with him in the Swiss Post team to ensure the stability of the company and at the same time drive growth and innovations that will lead the Group sustainably into a successful future,” said Peter Umundum, Member of the Management Board for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG, who will also be appointed Deputy CEO on 1 October.

“I am looking forward to my new role, in which I will be able to lead one of Austria’s most exciting companies into the future with full commitment. My ambition is to continue to be there for customers, employees and the environment in equal measure in the future. We want to be a modern, innovative logistics and technology company for our customers and an attractive and future-oriented employer for our employees. Austrian Post will continue to be a pioneer in sustainability and at the same time a reliable player in the capital market,” says Walter Oblin, designated CEO of Österreichische Post AG.
