Austrian Post: This partnership is an important step towards improving security

Österreichische Post AG and the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) have launched the strategic security partnership under the title “TOGETHER. SICHER mit der Post”.

The aim of this cooperation is to combat criminal activities that occur in connection with Austrian Post’s services even more efficiently and to ensure the safety of Austrian Post employees and customers.

The partnership aims to develop targeted measures to prevent crimes such as theft, fraud and cybercrime. Key aspects are the continuous exchange of information and the joint development of strategies to investigate criminal activities affecting Austrian Post and its networks. In addition, the cooperation contributes to strengthening the subjective feeling of security among the population. The focus of the security partnership includes, among other things, the security of post offices, postal partners, logistics centres, self-service stations and IT systems, as well as the training of employees in security-relevant areas.

“I am pleased about the continuation of our successful security cooperation, which brings added value to both the police and Austrian Post. The Gemeinsam.sicher cooperation strengthens the security of the postal infrastructure but also the subjective feeling of security among the population. Police officers, postal workers and ultimately our customers will benefit from this,” says Walter Oblin, CEO of Österreichische Post AG.

Special lectures and information materials from the police are made available to postal employees to prepare them for potential threats and to train them in dealing with emergencies.

“This partnership is an important step towards improving security in all areas of Austrian Post and shows how close cooperation between security authorities and institutions such as Austrian Post can be in order to detect and prevent criminal activities at an early stage,” says Minister of the Interior Gerhard Karner.

This cooperation, which also includes activities against the latest crime phenomena, makes a further contribution to increasing public safety in Austria. It is part of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening the sense of security among the population and preventing criminal activities, says Head of Division Alexander Homola, pleased with the conclusion of the new security partnership.
