Austrian Post delivers more than 1.56 million parcels in a single day in December
For several days in a row, Austrian Post has transported over one million parcels, and the daily record for December 2024 has now been reached with 1.56 million parcels. On an average day in 2024, Swiss Post will deliver around 800,000 parcels.
“More than 1.56 million parcels in a single day in December is an absolute postal record! Even with these high shipment volumes, we deliver Austrians’ parcels quickly and reliably – and as desired, for example to the post office station, which is available around the clock, with permission to drop off at a desired location or even directly to the anteroom. I believe that the postal workers can rightly call themselves ‘Team Christkind’ again,” says Peter Umundum, Deputy Director General, Member of the Management Board for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG.
High shipment volumes are expected to continue until Christmas Eve. In total, the company expects up to 54 million letters and Christmas cards during the Advent season, and in December alone, Swiss Post also expects well over 20 million parcels, an increase of more than ten percent compared to the previous year.
