CUPW says Canada Post’s last wage offers “did not cut it”

On 20th August Canada Post met with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) and resumed discussions with the assistance of federal mediators.

At this meeting, the Corporation received CUPW’s response to its best and final offers that were presented on May 28.

The new proposals include annual wage increases of nine per cent in the first year of the agreement, and four per cent in the second year, followed by increases of three per cent in years three and four.

The company is currently reviewing the union’s response and will be seeking further clarification as needed. Further meetings are scheduled for Friday and Monday.

Canada Post says it is committed to reaching new collective agreements through the bargaining process.

CUPW has stated on its website: “With the forced vote behind us, postal workers have now spoken and told Canada Post loud and clear: the Corporation’s last offers did not cut it.

Our global offers reflect the demands that were ratified before this round of negotiations started. Our proposals deliver the improvements postal workers need in their collective agreements.”
